We all want that promotion. It will look good on our resume and on our bank account. Contrary to most anecdotal advice, a way for an employee to get that long-desired promotion is by making his boss look good.

Following this advice will also get you more than just a promotion. You will have more respect, more money and more opportunities. Now after reading that, making the boss look good for a promotion doesn’t seem so ridiculous.

By making the boss look good, you have to push every inch of ego aside. Why should you do this? Well, bosses pretty much control how you live your life. They determine how much money you make, your working arrangement as well as your benefits.

Look at it this way. If you make your boss look good, then there is no way that he will let you leave his company. In fact, he will shower you with the benefits youve been working to have in order for you to stay. They know that once you leave your post, they won’t have anyone to make them look good anymore. Instead, your co-workers will realize that you are the boss wingman and that will make them want to have you too. Soon enough, offers will come rolling in and opportunities will be presented one after another. Once the boss realizes that you have these offers coming your way, he will continue throwing money in your direction in order for you to stay because youre happy with the benefits you are getting.

To show your appropriation with everything you are getting, it helps to assist the boss in making decisions. For example, you can do the research for him. It will also show your boss that you understand the company and know how to approach the obstacles coming the way of the business. It will also convince your boss that you know how to weigh the options in order to come up with the best decision.

This is a mark of a loyal and competent employee. With that being witnessed by your boss, you will get that promotion for sure.
